I’m also running a 15% off paint sale for our local customers who can do porch pick up in Byron Center Michigan during the Pandemic!

3.28.2020 All the stores in Michigan are on lock down due to the Coronavirus but I am well stocked with paint supplies here in West Michigan and personally hand pack and ship orders out as fast as they come in. We want to make sure you’re not only physically healthy but that you have fun things to do to occupy your mind while you’re at home. I am offering 15% off all paint supplies to our local customers who are able to do porch pick up in Byron Center during the time our stores are locked down (simply shop my website at www.shizzle-design.com then choose free local pick up at checkout; I’ll discount the paint supplies from my end when I box up your purchases. You’ll also be able to arrange a time for pick up at check out). I am not allowed to discount any DIY or APC paint supplies that ship but I do offer quick, fantastic customer service whether you’re a local customer or across the nation or ocean. I ship worldwide as well as APO if you’re wanting to ship paint supplies to one of your friends or family members in the military.

Salvation Solution – Stain Blocker

Ever try to paint a piece of mahogany furniture or started painting a piece only to experience horrible bleed through from wood tannins halfway into your project? Salvation Solution is a true redemption for rebel furniture. Applying this prior to painting creates an incredible barrier to block those nasty stains and tannins.

Salvation Solution comes in both clear or white. Clear is best if you’re planning to wet distress your painted piece so the original wood peeks through. There’s a lot to look at on the labels, to keep the two straight, Salvation Solution is red on the label of the Clear version. It also says Clear on the very bottom under the chair.

If you’re painting a piece pastel or white, I recommend going with the White Salvation Solution. This will not only block potential bleed through, but it will act as a first coat in coverage. Here’s what the White can looks like. Note the words Salvation Solution are in Blue and it says WHITE under the chair.

Well that’s it for this week’s new products but I have so much more to share with you!! Sit back and be inspired. This DIY post is packed full of ideas, furniture makeovers, blended color combinations and every single paint color offered by Debi’s Design Diary.   Save this blog post as I’ll continue to add more photos of layered paint combos & techniques to inspire your painted furniture  makeovers

DIY paint is the most amazing paint for painting furniture and creating fabulous blended pieces of art! It’s the all natural, NO-VOC, chalk & clay based paint everybody is raving about. This richly pigmented paint has outstanding coverage and the best bonding qualities allowing painters everywhere to skip the prep and just start painting.

You already know we carry only the finest quality products here at Shizzle and DIY is no exception.   Debi’s DIY Paint is an all natural clay based paint handcrafted in the U.S.A.  It adheres incredibly well to most surfaces without the need to strip, sand or prime so you can simply clean your piece and start painting.

When I say clean, you want to make sure you remove any grease, oil or years of Pledge build up prior to painting.  We offer an excellent all natural cleaner here at Shizzle but you can also use Vinegar, Dawn dish soap, Simple Green or Phosphorus Free TSP.

There are rare situations where you might want to give your piece a quick, 5 minute scuff up but as I rule, I only scuff things up on very rare occasions.  If you’re ever on the fence about whether your particular piece needs it, email a picture to me or give me a call and I can help you out.

How is DIY different than other paint lines?

DIY spreads on quickly and easily.  It’s especially magical when layering and blending several paint colors because they meld together into serious deliciousness.

Layered Colors with DIY

I not only love DIY because it’s an amazing paint, I love the entire package  because of the people within this amazing company.  Friendships here are woven deeply and there is mutual respect and support stemming from the Owner.  Debi works hard and is so incredibly supportive to each and every one of her retailers and everyone else in between.   That respect goes in all directions as I’ve never been part of such a great network of women supporting and helping other women.  I could go on and on but for now… I’d like to share the beautiful paint colors of DIY.

Apothecary

Aviary

Bead Board – white white with gray undertones

Black Velvet is an “almost black” graphite/slate type color

Blue Iris – this seriously is the color of an iris flower or that blue in a peacock feather, very highly pigmented and fantastic for artists at all levels

Bohemian Blue – Hand’s down one of our very best sellers, this blue is absolutely stunning no mater what you later it with or how you finish it!

Bohemian Blue is currently the number one selling paint color at DIY and for good reason, just look at it!

Cake Batter

Is this combo delish or what??  Drooling!!!

I painted this highboy with Farm Fresh then spritzed with both Bohemian Blue and Queen Bee, Sealed with Clear and White Wax

Farm Fresh is so gorgeous!!!  Love this color!

Fire Starter

French Millinery

Gravel Road

I sealed this with Clear Wax but I must have still had some white wax on the bristles because there’s just a hint of white in the grooves.

Gypsy Green

Gypsy Green is a bit deeper, darker and warmer in tone than Fancy Farm Girl.  It has more brown undertones whereas Fancy Farmgirl is more bold and vibrant.

Hey Sailor

This is another hot selling blue ~ rich and boldly pigmented. It looks a lot brighter in the picture of the can; it’s really more of a navy blue.

Kissing Booth

Kissing Booth, Old ’57 & White Swan Paint Pour using Clear Liquid Patina as a medium

How fun is this?  Have you ever done a paint pour?  It’s so much fun!

Layered Chocolate
