This dresser stuck out like a sore thumb at a local thrift store and I have to admit, I almost didn't bother looking at it because it's so not my style.  At first glance, I thought it was something a dad had made for one of his little kids  The combination of baby blue and bright green was enough to make me grab for my sunglasses.

I didn't care for the extremely high gloss finish on it, but that's just me.  Retro just isn't my style - AT ALL - but it had a great price on it, so I started checking it out.  What I discovered is, it was very well made dresser.  The entire piece is well built and definitely not homemade.  The metal seal on the inside reads "Tri-Bond Furniture III".

Long story short, it came home with me.  We took a vote online for color choices and after all the votes came in, we decided on a classic white.  Check out the difference a little paint makes...

Finding my way back

For the first time in over a year, I'm thrilled to be creating again.  I lost my passion for painting this past year between the divorce, my diagnosis of cancer, major surgery, long recovery and almost losing our mom to an unexpected heart block.    After spending months in physical therapy and basic survival mode, I'm finally climbing out of the haze.  The fog is clearing and I can see hope for a better tomorrow.  Painting furniture is therapeutic, having lost that lust was like losing part of my inner soul and I'm so thankful it's starting to come back.   I tried the Frenchic for the first time when I returned to work after surgery.  Cathy had raved about it for months and it didn't take long for me to understand why.  Frenchic is absolutely dreamy and just what I needed to spark my passion for painting again.  0111

We're always trying new eco-friendly products, but I haven't been this excited about a new paint - like, ever!

I found this antique bow front dresser two years ago during a trip to one of my favorite places ~ Traverse City, Michigan.

I usually  bi-pass pieces that need a lot of work and this one was definitely in need of some TLC, but I knew there was a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

I hauled it home then stashed it in our workshop for years.  Each time I thought about working on it, I dreaded removing the damaged veneer so I'd push it aside and move on to another piece.  I had it so long that I actually tried listing it for $45.  Apparently nobody else wanted to make the repairs either so I decided to dig in and salvage it.  I had just returned to work after my surgery to remove Chondrosarcoma and I was on a mission for new beginnings!

Don't fight the Character, Embrace it!

It was love at first sight when I spotted this piece at a local thrift shop.  Just look at her fabulous detail! I could see the potential for new life but I wanted to give her some function as well since the original stereo was missing.  We took it to DeVos Place in Grand Rapids,...
